Australia

Australia's wine industry is a thriving part of the country's economy, contributing significantly to employment, production, export, and tourism. In fact, the industry is the fourth-largest wine exporter in the world, shipping out 760 million liters of wine to countries including France, Italy, Spain, and the UK. One of the key factors contributing to Australia's success as a "New World" wine producer is the formal export and marketing of its wines through Wine Australia.

Australia's wine regions are scattered across the south and southeast, with almost every state boasting its own vineyards. Victoria, for example, is home to an impressive 21 wine regions. Some of the most famous wine regions in Australia include Margaret River, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Eden Valley, Clare Valley, Hunter Valley, Yarra Valley, and local regions to New South Wales such as Cowra, Southern Highlands, and Mudgee.

Australian winemakers are known for producing a diverse range of grape varieties, with Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir being among the most popular. They tend to focus on producing wines that are ripe, fruit-forward, and easy to drink, using modern winemaking techniques and equipment such as stainless steel tanks and temperature-controlled fermentation.

With its bold, fruit-driven flavors and reputation for quality and diversity, Australian wine has become a popular choice for wine lovers around the world. And with such a broad range of wine regions and grape varieties, there's something for every palate to enjoy.

Australia Multi Regional

Unlike estate-based wines, which come from wineries that produce wines only from their own vineyards, some Australian wines come from multiple regions. This more far-flung fruit sourcing and winemaking allows Australian producers to demonstrate regional diversity, produce creative blends, and take advantage of the marketing opportunities that arise from the positives of the distinct regions. In Australia, multiregional blends are quite common and even a key part of the country’s winemaking tradition, whereas some other countries face robust regulations that make multiregional blending and wines more challenging or even impossible.

About the brand Zilzie

The Forbes family landed in the Murray Darling region of Australia nearly 100 years ago. After four generations of farming, Ian and Ros Forbes, along with sons Steven and Andrew converted the fields to vineyards in the early 1980. The winery was built in 1999 and the first Zilzie vintage produced in 2000.With a wide range of labels and varieties, Zilzie offers quality wines for any occasion. Searching far afield in regions such as Coonawarra and the Yarra Valley the family sources high quality grapes for their "Regional Collection". With winemaker Hayden Donohue heading the winemaking team, the range regularly receives acclaim as a 'Best Buy' and 'Top Value' and is a staple in Australian households. But as Ros Forbes puts it: It's not just a farm, it's a home. The boys had mud fights and rode BMX bikes in the same soil they now grow Shiraz and Chardonnay in."
