The history of Langmeil Winery goes back to the settling days of the Barossa Valley, when German blacksmith, Christian Aur… icht, planted his first acre of Shiraz vines on the estate in 1843. This pocket of Shiraz is now considered to be among the oldest-known surviving pre-phylloxera Shiraz vineyards in the world, with fruit going into Langmeil’s single vineyard, old vine flagship wine, The Freedom Shiraz.
