The Rathbone Wine Group purchased Yering Station in 1996. Originally a cattle station, the Scottish-born Ryrie brothers pu… rchased the property of 43,000 acres in 1838 and maintained its Aboriginal name 'Yering'. From the vines they planted, Victoria's first vineyard was established. When the brothers returned to Sydney in the 1950s the property was sold to Paul de Castella who extended the vineyards by planting French varieties still grown on the property today.
