Made for United Cellars by New Zealand winemaking superstars Matt and Sophie Thomson. Matt was head winemaker at St Clair, but has made wines across all of New Zealand as well as in Chile, Italy, France, Spain, Romania and Hungary. Sophie is a current Masters of Wine student and wine scientist. A subtle, single-vineyard wine, grown at Dillons Point, in the lower Wairau Valley. Hand-picked, it was fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for nine months in seasoned French oak puncheons, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. Vegan and Vegetarian friendly. The nose is elegant with finely concentrated, deeply penetrating aromas of pungent passionfruit harmoniously melded with tropical fruit and fresh herbs, with green stonefruit elements. This is refined in its intensity. A very youthful wine, weighty, with ripe tropical-fruit flavours, showing excellent delicacy and depth, a slightly minerally streak, and a dry, lingering finish.
