Some wines that will be on tasting

Pizzini Prosecco Nv
This wine is a light straw colour with lime hues. The nose explodes from the glass with sweet sherbet, lemon, lime and jasmine aromas. The palate is creamy and refreshingly zingy with lemon, lime acidity. Apples and hints of ripe pear continue to entice the palate, with hints of vanilla. The wine has lovely length and softness, and playful bubbles, with a touch of sweetness but a long dry finish. Serve with Sydney rock oysters or lightly grilled scallops topped with lemon zest.

Yangarra 'Roux Beaute' Roussanne 2018
Hand-picked from Block 6 (1.0 Ha) on the 16th March. This is our oldest Roussanne planting, now 15 years old. Forty percent was destemmed, crushed, and placed into 675L ceramic eggs. This portion was fermented on skins for 193 days before pressing. No pressings were retained. The remaining 60% was pressed into ceramic eggs and fermented off skins. Bottled November 2018. Certified Organic/Biodynamic. "Roux Beauté began as a winemaking trial in 2013, with the intention of growing and making an extraordinary Roussanne. The grapes fermented and matured on their skins in big 675L ceramic eggs. The resulting wine is luxuriously textured, and showcases the varietal flavours of Roussanne and the distinctive characters of the site. It will age wonderfully given time in the cellar. The name “Beauté” captures our intention to beautifully express the Roussanne varietal and its site. Roux, the French word for ‘russet’, is the likely part origin of the name Roussanne, and refers to the reddish tinge that forms on the skin of the yellow-green fruit." - Yangarra Estate

Hickinbotham The Nest Cabernet Franc 2018
Although only the Nest’s second vintage, the 2018 is utterly stunning. This Cabernet Franc expresses true varietal characteristics such as black tea and rich raspberry with a touch of bay leaf. The mid-palate is dense yet delicate and the finish features fine velvety tannins. A showstopper now, one can only imagine the cellaring potential.

New Vintage Coming Soon!
Deisen Mataro 2003
"Hot year, big mother of a wine, color deep burgundy still showing lovely rich purple hues, complex flavor, typical savory palate with hints of chocolate and white pepper." - Sabine Deisen Deisen wines are a tiny producer, surrounded by some of the best vineyard sites in the Barossa Valley. Stories abound of the Deisen fruit going into Rockford's basket press and also to John Duval; of old vines being pulled up as part of the vine pull and Robert O'Callaghan (from neighbour Rockford) not getting to Sabine in time to prevent this, for he knew of the quality of the fruit; of re-planting vines at Rocky's encouragement, asking Wayne Dutschke to make the wines for her, for him to encourage and mentor her through learning to do it herself

Yangarra 'Blanc' 2020
Blanc is the result of years of research and quarantine of the best white varieties we can find amongst the ancient north-west Mediterranean vine types. The fact that these Châteauneuf varieties have been successfully blended for so many years encouraged us to pursue this direction. On the back of Grenache Noirs success in our region, it seemed logical to pursue Châteauneuf’s top whites on our southern coast. 2020 Yangarra Estate Vineyard Blanc is a blend of Grenache Blanc (60%), Roussanne (17%), Clairette (10%), Picpoul (8%) and Bourboulenc (3%). An Australian first; a heat resilient blend of white varieties sourced in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and grown on newly planted cuttings here on our single-vineyard Estate in McLaren Vale.

Koomilya Tempranillo Touriga 2017
Aromas of blackberry, fruits of the forest, red toffee apple, roast beetroot, smoky paprika and Dutch cocoa. The palate shows red toffee apple and blackberry on entry followed by cocoa and paprika, finishing with Touriga’s signature fruit mince and plum pudding. There is tension to the texture from a firm spine surrounded by generosity. The tannins ripple and repeat, folding back on themselves.

Discovery Road Fiano 2019
Intense aromas of fresh pear skin, honey dew and baked apple are complemented by nuances of frangipani and almond meal. The palate displays a soft and generous mouthfeel with fresh flavours of pear, melon and apple and finishing with a soft and balanced acidity. It will accompany summer cuisine beautifully. It will also entertain on its own “over conversation, on the deck”.

Jim Barry Assyrtiko 2019
Made from Australias first Assyrtiko vines. Opens with lifted floral aromatics, followed by notes of pear and lime. Great concentration of flavour to open, with stone like minerality running the length of the palate. A refreshing line of acidity gives the wine a lively feel, finishing with a fine chalky texture. Super refreshing, the perfect match for fresh Australian seafood. “I first tasted Assyrtiko in August 2006 while on holiday with my wife Sue on the Greek island of Santorini, birthplace of the Assyrtiko grape variety. The crisp, acidic qualities reminded me of our Clare Valley Rieslings and yet it was a flavour I had not experienced before. Intrigued with this newfound variety, I began the process of importing cuttings into Australia through quarantine. In August 2012 we planted Australia’s first Assyrtiko at our Lodge Hill Vineyard, a special and unique site treasured by my family and suited to this variety. Our Assyrtiko journey has been fascinating and has enabled us to produce a wine which, I believe, is a true expression of the variety. I hope you find the flavours as interesting as I did in 2006.” - Peter Barry, Third Generation Family Winemaker.

Ravensworth 'The Long Way Around' Bianco 2020
We made no wine from our NSW vineyards due to extreme smoke taint concentrations from the bushfires that ravaged our region from December to late January 2020. With this on our minds we headed west, as far as we could go to look for fruit and winemaking space. Luckily lots of industry colleagues stepped up to help and we found ourselves with options from Swan valley, Margaret and Frankland rivers and the deep south vineyards of Porongurup. This is one of a pair of multi-region blends based on the fruit from this wonderful old vineyard in the Swan valley near Perth. Dry grown, bush vines, quite hot area very reminiscent of Spain and Portugal. Our Long Way Around Bianco is mostly Trebbiano, one of Italy’s most versatile and widely planted varieties that goes by many synonyms right across Europe. A short time on skins and then barrel fermented. This was blended with Gewurztraminer from Frankland and Riesling from Porongurup, respectively adding exotic aromas and acidity.

Corymbia Chenin Blanc 2019
Rob and his father, former Australian Test Cricketer Tony “Rocket” Mann, planted the Chenin Blanc vines together on their family property more than 25 years ago. The grapes were harvested by hand over 2 days and whole bunch pressed prior to natural fermentation. A portion was matured in seasoned French oak barriques for 7 months prior to blending and bottling. Aromas of lemon and blackcurrant. The wine shows distinctive characters of lemon pith, blackcurrant leaf, fresh crunchy pear with a textural, vibrant and typically saline finish. It’s so salivating, it’s the perfect drink for every occasion.
