GRACI ETNA ROSATO MOUNT ETNA DOC SICILY 2018
Graci, SicilyAlberto Aiello Graci has been making wine on Sicily's Mount Etna since 2004, the year he returned from his apprenticeship as a Milan banker, picking up the baton with 5 hectares of family land, 2 hectares of which is vineyards (the rest polycultural activities). The region of Etna Rosso, famous for its black lava soils and elegant red wines made from the Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio grapes, has been undergoing a revival since 2000, lured by juicy EU grants and spectacular scenery. Once carpeted with vines - the fruit of which was allegedly used to in bulk to prop up the wines of the Langhe and of Burgundy - it has now become an artisan's playground, a mix of hobbyist and commercial winegrowers. This pale, slightly orange-hued rose is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese, a grape often considered the Pinot Noir of Sicily. The fruit comes from Alberto Graci’s Arcuria vineyard, located at 600 metres above sea-level. Temperatures are cooler here and the grapes benefit from a slow, extended ripening – developing aromas of wild flowers and mandarin, with slightly savoury tones on the finish. A serious rosé, it is matured in cement and spends six months on the lees for added complexity. Drink now to 2021.

CHATEAU MARIS LANGUEDOC ROSE 2017
When we bought the vineyard in 1997 we wanted to make the best wines in the Languedoc while working in harmony with nature – that is without applying pesticides or other chemicals. We looked at natural ways of rejuvenating the soil using compost. First we carried out an experiment. Biodynamic preparations were added to one organic compost pile and another was left alone. After a while we discovered that the biodynamic pile contained far more living organisms and there was no doubt about the right course of action for the vineyard as a whole. Thanks to biodynamic methods, our vines are now healthier and grow longer – and the quality of grapes is better. Chateau Maris is now a 79-acre estate divided into a multitude of small vineyards on the hillside above the village of La Liviniere, the first Cru Classe of the Minervois, in the Languedoc region. We have been certified by Ecocert since 2002, Biodyvin since 2004,Demeter since 2008 and BCorps since 2016.

THISTLEDOWN GORGEOUS GRENACHE ROSE 2019
Grenache is Australia’s signature grape variety and we’re slightly obsessed with it. Our first Rosé is sourced from an old, single vineyard in Berri. Beautifully pale, salmon pink with delicate aromatics and lovely texture, it lives up to its name. Right across South Australia, the 2019 vintage will be remembered as a very challenging one. Very dry conditions persisted throughout the growing season while some areas also had to contend with frost, hail and wind – all of which reduced the crop but helped increase concentration and quality. Our rosé was hand-picked in mid-february, before the extreme heat in early March, thus retaining the vibrant red fruits that we sought.

LA LINEA TEMPRANILLO ROSE 2017
Having picked each block at optimum ripeness (which in a cooler, later season meant approximately half a baumé later than in ’16), we used the proven techniques that have made La Linea rosé a benchmark style: some time on skins after crushing for gentle tannin extraction, fermentation of clean juice at relatively low temperature, and short maturation before bottling while fresh and crisp.
