Scents of green melon, cut grass, citrus. Fresh feeling. The palate is juicy, fleshy, round, soft. More grassiness, nice, tart stone fruit flavours, a dash of citrus again. - Mike Bennie South by South West was created by Mijan Patterson and Livia Maiorana. A small-batch artisan winemaker based in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. This is a perfumed and very aromatically focussed wine with a gentle hint of natural reductive tones. The palate expresses a freshness and brightness of fruit, which is on the savoury spectrum with some highlighted phenolics. Careful older oak integration and some gentle stirring on yeast lees have resulted in a textured component to this wine, which, together with the overall leanness of this wine brings structure. Pairs well with cheese and shellfish.

Doesn’t feel as if there is much skin fermentation here, but texture is good, the powdery finish the only tell for the winemaking approach. Good drink.
