It’s completely alive and quite beautiful. As much as we note that schist’s compression and foliated structure can issue wines of precision and detail, here schist’s refractive, luminous nature shines a direct, unadulterated light onto Gamay’s own primary fruit and spice.
Bright perfume of lifted cherries, herbs and undergrowth. Juicy fruit weight, firm yet supple tannins with a fantastic length. Fine, pretty and moreish.

(2016 vintage) Such pretty floral, sweet fruited perfume – it’s a funny thing when you say sweetness because it’s often pejorative, but here so far from that, so inviting, familiar and good. The palate has a tightness, a strict rule in shape and form, long, pivoting on fruit, savouriness and brisk acidity, with a swathe of lacy tannin chiming in. Such personality and tension, structure and sinew. Seriously good.
