(2016 vintage) Slightly lighter in hue than the other Mature Vine offerings and seemingly more open as well, the 2015 Emma's Block Mature Vine Pinot Noir features hints of raspberries and cherries on the nose, alongside thyme and floral notes. It's medium-bodied, with slightly less concentration and redder fruit flavours but with similar fine-grained tannins and tremendous spice and length. It's the one to open now, if you have to, although I expect it to improve for at least another 5 years.

(2016 vintage) Deep fragrance, so appealing, such a strong, siren song, cherries, sweet earth, truffle, old spice cupboard. The palate is awake, succulent, peaky on just-ripe cherry flavours, white pepper, lively herbal-stemmy character. Unadorned, pure, yet so much going on, tannins, crisp acidity, detail of fruit. Will last long, long in cellar too I suspect. Super expression.

James Suckling
(2016 vintage) A wealth of black cherries and flowers, pepper-laced cocoa powder and a stony, savory edge. The palate delivers cola-like dark spices and a core of rich dark plums and black cherries. Seamless, succulent tannins draw deep into the finish. Drink in 2020.
