Editors notes

Prohibition’s Mother’s Day Gin combines a lush nose of fresh berries and flowers. Bright pomegranate is intertwined by robust raspberry and vanilla on the palate, giving mouthfeel and finesse. Piney juniper, fragrant rose, hibiscus and lavender, in harmony with sunrise lime & riverland lemon zest balances this special drop. Bold yet refined, this gin balances delicate flavours in unapologetically vibrant ways.

Australia

Australia's wine industry is a thriving part of the country's economy, contributing significantly to employment, production, export, and tourism. In fact, the industry is the fourth-largest wine exporter in the world, shipping out 760 million liters of wine to countries including France, Italy, Spain, and the UK. One of the key factors contributing to Australia's success as a "New World" wine producer is the formal export and marketing of its wines through Wine Australia.

Australia's wine regions are scattered across the south and southeast, with almost every state boasting its own vineyards. Victoria, for example, is home to an impressive 21 wine regions. Some of the most famous wine regions in Australia include Margaret River, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Eden Valley, Clare Valley, Hunter Valley, Yarra Valley, and local regions to New South Wales such as Cowra, Southern Highlands, and Mudgee.

Australian winemakers are known for producing a diverse range of grape varieties, with Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir being among the most popular. They tend to focus on producing wines that are ripe, fruit-forward, and easy to drink, using modern winemaking techniques and equipment such as stainless steel tanks and temperature-controlled fermentation.

With its bold, fruit-driven flavors and reputation for quality and diversity, Australian wine has become a popular choice for wine lovers around the world. And with such a broad range of wine regions and grape varieties, there's something for every palate to enjoy.

Australia Multi Regional

Unlike estate-based wines, which come from wineries that produce wines only from their own vineyards, some Australian wines come from multiple regions. This more far-flung fruit sourcing and winemaking allows Australian producers to demonstrate regional diversity, produce creative blends, and take advantage of the marketing opportunities that arise from the positives of the distinct regions. In Australia, multiregional blends are quite common and even a key part of the country’s winemaking tradition, whereas some other countries face robust regulations that make multiregional blending and wines more challenging or even impossible.

About the brand Prohibition Liquors

Prohibition Liquor Co. pays homage to the shadowy, underground industry of the 1920s prohibition era, where gin was the liquor of choice produced by clandestine bootleggers. Even after a century, their spirit lives on through the brand.

In 2015, two friends from Adelaide had a crazy plan to start a gin distillery. One had experience in the food & beverage industry, while the other was a graphic designer with a passion for creating brands. From a humble start in an inner-suburban garage, the Prohibition brand quickly became a success and later opened their city distillery in 2017 featuring a beautiful 900L Copper Pot Still named 'Mary'. They expanded the venue with the opening of Bootleg Coffee Co and Next Door cocktail bar, making Prohibition an Adelaide institution.

Prohibition Liquor Co. is committed to crafting ultra-premium gins, which starts at Gilbert Street and extends to every venue and bottle shop representing their spirits across Australia and around the world. Their globally awarded spirits are truly world-class, with accolades from San Francisco to Singapore and across Australia.

Head Distiller Hugh Lumsden leads the team, sourcing only the finest quality botanicals to create a unique range of hand-crafted gins. The gins feature exotic combinations of traditional ingredients from across the globe and are distilled with locally sourced, native Australian botanicals.
