Spicy, lime leaf, vanilla perfume, lemon/lime. Sweet juicy Riesling flavour, fine talc-like texture, bright acidity, slight herbal bitterness on the finish. Great drinking. Such bounciness and joy, which edged the rating up one point. I'd drink it young.

Traditional, perhaps, but deliciously so, with a joyous display of lime, lemon and a faint touch of passionfruit on the palate, balanced and lengthened by crisp acidity on the finish.

Huon Hooke

Light straw colour. The aroma is earthy and savoury with some dried undergrowth and foresty nuances. The palate is fruity and juicy, with a trace of sweetness balanced by fresh citrusy acidity. Lime and lemon flavours abound. Good flavour, intensity and length, balance and charm.

Pikes Traditionale has seemingly evolved to a more generous and ripe fruit style of stone fruits and golden delicious apples in recent seasons. 2012 presents this personality with particular confidence, maintaining a refined lemon juice backbone and showcasing the slatey, mineral texture that characterises Polish Hill River.
