The Story I often get asked, what comes first with a wine? Is it the name, the label or the wine itself? It’s different for every wine and for this one, it was the name. I was driving, listening to a Nicki Minaj song and it had a line, “You at a stand still, mannequin.” It got me thinking about mannequins and their purpose to serve as a stylized representation of the human form to showcase clothes, or in this case, a wine. Clothing, much like wine, evolves over time to reflect trends, nature, and creative whims, yet the mannequin always remains static. The 2018 vintage was bountiful across the board which allowed us the ‘pick of the litter’, blending together a wine that encapsulates our conception of Chardonnay—not too oaky and with a nice frame of acidity for enjoyment now and for many years. A lurid straw gold, the aromatics abound with bright lemon, butterscotch, honeysuckle and jasmine, with hints of Granny Smith apple, fresh butter and lime zest. Rich and layered upon entry, the palate espouses honeydew, yellow peach, vanilla with a lush, weighty viscosity. A vein of acidity is present through the finish with a pleasing close of minerality and lemon pith. Maturation: Aged in 32% new French oak sur lie for 8 months Alc: 15%

One-hundred percent barrel fermented and aged for eight months in French oak barrels (32% new), the 2018 Chardonnay Mannequin offers spiced apples and poached pears notions with nuances of baking bread, toasted almonds and honeycomb. Full- bodied, the palate reveals expressive apple and pears flavors with a satiny texture and plenty of baking spices coming through on the finish. 13,701 cases were made.
