Since its founding in 1978, Oakridge has been making wines in the Yarra Valley and has produced some of the finest examples of cool climate wines seen in Australia. Oakridge is family owned, with a philosophy of producing wines that reflect the terroir of the Yarra Valley. The three ranges explore various grape varieties, meso-climates within the Yarra Valley, individual sites and winemaking approaches. An allure of aromatics with fruits of the forest, both red and dark berries, a hint of pomegranate, and a touch of Chinese five spice, earth and stem. The palate has a great vibrancy of fruit flavour that is balanced perfectly with supple fruit tannins, raspberry and dark cherry flavours abound with a bright acid line in support and providing drive.

Scores & Reviews

96 / 100

James Halliday

"Clones 777 and MV6, the standard Oakridge vinification ever seeking maximum expression of the variety and sense of place. Good colour; the penetration of the wine is a feature deriving from the inherent purity and natural balance of red and black cherry fruit. Wonderful wine."

James Suckling

"This has such a seductive, complex and spicy feel to the nose with a core of bright red cherries and a little red-plum character in the mix, too. Great pinot. The palate’s beautifully detailed texture holds pockets of ripe red-cherry flavor and casts a long, velvety finish. Seductive."

Mike Bennie

"This is a nice pinot noir, nice in that sense of niceness and be polite and don’t say anything untoward. Smoky-mineral notes over ripe cherry, sloshes in the palate pleasingly, tart, cranberry tang and leafiness to finish. There’s a good burr of tannins, fresh acidity, a transparency that feels designed and appealing. It’s an easy wine to see some pedigree in, restraint, coolness, no hair out of place. Nice."

Huon Hooke

"Medium red/purple colour, with a dry-herb, slightly dusty bouquet with underlying cherry-brandy notes. The wine is medium to light-bodied and savoury, with abundant fine-grained, powdery but drying tannins that cleanse the finish. A very attractive pinot to drink now and over the next five or six years."
