The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon uses fruit produced from 40 year old vines on the Follett family vineyard, situated on the Bremer flood plain at Langhorne Creek. Traditional open fermentation was employed followed by maturation in French oak barriques for 20 months, prior to bottling. The wine displays a lifted aromatics of black fruits and violets, along with some cedary oak nuances. The concentrated palate has a lovely silky texture, showing chocolate and cassis flavours and a wonderfully long finish. With careful cellaring this wine will age superbly for at least the next 10 years.

James Halliday's Wine Companion

"Quintessentially maritime, warm climate cab: currant, leaf and sage-clad tannins drive a chassis of saline acidity. Mid to fully loaded, the overall impression is one of a drinkable savouriness."

"A deeply purple glass-stainer. Pure and pristine showing violets, blueberries and mulberries - lovely and fresh, largely uncluttered. Sinewed and structured with long, ripe tannins. Tobacco leaf and cedar in the mix. This is very young and full of life. A beautiful cabernet."

(2015 vintage) "Chocolate cake with raspberries, a little gum leaf/menthol perfume, even-handed use of spicy cedar oak. It’s full-bodied, but only just, delivers a flood of choc-blackberry satisfaction, toasty oak nicely tucked in, supple fine-grained tannin is present throughout, finish is long, with a bit of the old savoury and saline coming through. This is a yes. It’s a toss up between 93 or 94 points: they caught me in a good mood tonight."
