La Nerthe

La Nerthe

Chateau La Nerthe is one of the oldest and largest estate in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The first document testifying to its existence dates back to 1560 by four brothers of the Tulle de Villefranche family. Since that time Chateau La Nerthe has been a customary reference in the history of the wines and vineyards of France, but by the 1980’s it was in a state of decline. Purchased by the Richard family of Paris in 1985, Alain Dugas was invited to head the estate, and together with cellar-master Philippe Capelier, Max Farjon in the vineyards and consultant oenologist Noel Rabot, has brought about Chateau La Nerthe’s Renaissance.
