Kalleske
With origins as grape growers, the Kalleske family has been supplying grapes to the Barossa Valley since 1853. After six generations in this model, brothers Troy and Tony established the Kalleske winery, producing premium, full-bodied wines from Barossa Valley fruit. Parents John and Lorraine manage the winery's 120-acre vineyard, which is home to Shiraz, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon along with a range of reds and aromatic whites. The wines are vinified from low-yielding, estate grown fruit from the certified organic and biodynamic vineyard. Since 1988, it is the oldest certified vineyard in the Barossa. The vines themselves are even older, dating back to 1975 with an average age of 50 years. With such care in the vineyard, so too is it in the winery where the wines are crafted with minimal intervention. Winemaker Troy Kalleske has plenty of experience with Barossa fruit, having made wine at some of Australia's finest estates, including Seppelt Great Western, Lindemans, Penfolds and Seppeltsfield fortified winery as well as Vinwood Cellars in California.
