WINNER; James Halliday's Wine Companion 2020 WINERY OF THE YEAR! This wine is something of a flashback wine from the young winemaker Tom Barry. A blend of 85% Lodge Hill Cabernet planted in 1997 and 15% Lodge Hill Malbec planted in 1998 spending 12 months in old French 300L barrels. The Cabernet smells rich and powerful, while the Malbec brings some lifted aromatics and spices- smells downright delicious.

James Halliday's Wine Companion

It’s a very blue and purple tasting wine, throbbing with dark fruit, dark chocolate with a little mint, tobacco, dried rose and subtle cedar oak. Full bodied, thick and tannic, black olive savouries mixing with deep fruit, a sort of ‘ironstone’ feeling, you might say, and a firm long finish, replete with tannin and grip. Lovely to see wines being made with an eye to uncompromising structure. The Clare Valley does this blend so well, and this is no exception.
