Hungerford Hill Blackberry Vineyard Semillon 2013
Scores & Reviews
Bright, light-yellow colour, restrained for its seven years, as is the bouquet which is restrained and youthful and shows intense lemon curd aromas, with candlewax and boiled lemon lolly flavours. It's dry and firm, but easygoing enough to enjoy now. The acidity is very refreshing, but it must have been austere in its youth. An excellent Hunter semillon, now in its early middle-age and drinking superbly
Blackberry Vineyard has a romantic name which aptly suits this classic Hunter Semillon styling. Tight, precise, racy and lean, a whisper of mineral charcater shot through lemon juice and the faintest leafy herbal character. Pretty, delicate, pure and very focused, this is brilliant textbook stuff from a revitalised producer.
Still youthful with its acid line but with some buttered toast complexity dabbed with lime marmalade. Quite parching on the finish but a lot to like in-between.
