CHAMPAGNE DRAPPIER 1ER CRU BRUT NV
A blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier, only from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, this is exceptional quality Champagne for an unbelievable price! Offering notes of pear, hazelnut and subtle toasty spice on the nose, it follows with a creamy mousse underpinned by hallmark Champagne acidity. Excellent aperitif wine and a true crown pleaser. In addition to making outstanding wines, Champagne Drappier are the first Carbon Neutral Champagne House, by reducing their carbon footprint to zero after a 10 year effort. 2017 that number will increase to 75%. The producer avoids using air conditioning in its cellars by utilising a free cooling system, with isolated air conditioning systems strategically used throughout the property. Further offsetting its carbon footprint, Drappier has recently invested in a wind turbine company in India and, as of Janaury 2016, claims to be the first Champagne House in the world to have reduced their carbon emissions to a net zero carbon footprint. “Investing in a sustainable project in India is our way of expressing gratitude to this small, but dynamic, market for Champagne”, said Michel Drappier, winemaker and CEO of Champagne Drappier. The house also plans to “aggressively reduce fuel consumption” over the ne(more...)

PIERRE PAILLARD 'LES PARCELLES' GRAND CRU CHAMPAGNE NV
The grapes for Les Parcelles come from 22 individual plots with an average vine age of 25 years, and while it is labeled a ‘non-vintage’ wine it is, like all non-vintage blends, based primarily on one vintage with a smaller percentage of ‘reserve’ wines added according to the house style. This bottling of Les Parcelles is based on 2011 (65%) and 2010 (35%), and Pailard’s new labels—in keeping with a trend in Champagne to sneak out more information about vintages and disgorgement dates on labels—include a subtle roman-numeral 11 (‘XI’) as your tip-off. Another key element of style in Les Parcelles is that it’s an Extra Brut, with only 3.5 grams/liter of dosage, giving it an exceptionally balanced finish. This cuvée layers some resonant Chardonnay high notes over its thumping Bouzy Pinot Noir bass line. It’s a great example of both terroir expression and artful blending.

JACQUESSON 'CUVEE NO 741' NV
At Jacquesson we are fortunate to have some exceptional terroirs, all Premiers and Grands Crus from La Grande Vallee de la Marne and the Cote des Blancs. Our viticulture relies on time-honoured principles, we use only the cuvee from each pressing and have absolutely no hesitation, in difficult vintages, in rejecting juice which doesn’t meet our standards. As a result, our multi-vintage wines retain the best of every harvest and we are proud to be able to say that they faithfully reflect the characteristics of the base vintage whilst benefiting from the addition of some vins de reserve. A beautiful, fruity, juicy Champagne with hints of citrus, floral notes and peach. Made with 47% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, it is rich and well-rounded and will stand up to extensive cellaring.

CHAMPAGNE PIERRE PETERS CUVEE DE RESERVE BRUT NV
12 hectares of prime vineyard in the best site of Le Mesnil has produced an extraordinary blanc de blanc champagne. Scintillating purity and power of fruit, finesse, minerality and complexity thanks to the base reserve wine from 1988 also enriched with more than 20 different vintages. The terroirs of Le Mesnil are on show revealing the remarkable capacity of the chardonnay vine to extract the gorgeous minerality and tang of the Cotes de Blancs’ finest grand crus. "Very few champagnes more eloquently articulate their terroirs than those of Pierre Peters. On my first encounter with the young Rodolphe Peters, three hours of exploring the fruits of three decades left me mesmerised by the remarkable capacity of the chardonnay vine to extract the salty minerality of the Cotes de Blancs’ finest grand crus and preserve it in its wines for time eternal. I left with the realisation of another dimension to champagne, one in which minerality assumes a personality all of its own. And I discovered Les Chetillons, the Le Montrachet of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger" - TYSON STELZER

ULYSSE COLLIN 'LES MAILLONS' BLANC DE NOIRS EXTRA BRUT NV 2015 BASE
The current release is based on 2015 with 60% reserve wine from 2014, disgorged in March 2019. This beautifully textured and perfumed Blanc de Noirs comes from a site called Les Maillons in Barbonne-Fayel, near the town of Sézanne (in the Côte de Sézanne). Of Les Maillons’ six hectres, Collin farms 2.5, and is the only grower to work the soil here. The commute by tractor takes a good two hours each way from the cellar! The Ulysse Collin parcel was originally planted with massale vines in 1971 on a slope of heavy, iron-rich clay. This is a superb Pinot terroir and can ripen the grapes to north of 12% potential alcohol easily—something very rare in Champagne. Despite the power, the location of the site also helps to conserve acidity and freshness thanks to its ventilated, east-facing exposure. The current release includes a significantly higher portion of reserve wine than the last release (and is of course all the better for it). It was aged in three- to six-year-old barrels (including some foudres) for the first seven months of its life. Disgorged with only 2.4 grams.
