Editors notes

Once it has spent fifteen years maturing in American white oak casks approximately 30% is transferred into Spanish Oloroso casks to spend a further three years maturing. Then, when both elements have reached 18 years, we blend them back together to create a whisky with a rich bouquet and full, rounded flavour. The taste is balanced between honey, malt and flowery scents. Dates and figs emerge in the background with a hint of wood smoke.

A historic region in Scotland (and also home to the famed Loch Ness and its fabled monster), the Highlands has a whisky-producing heritage that dates back centuries. These days, the region – in the north of Scotland – is the largest of its five whisky-producing region, at a size of roughly 26,000 square kilometres. The area spans from Orkney to Arran and encompasses the northern isles as well as the bulk of the Inner and Outer Hebrides, Argyll, Stirlingshire, and parts of Perthshire and Aberdeenshire. With 47 distilleries throughout the region, it’s no wonder the Highlands makes a diverse range of whiskies. About the brand Glenmorangie

In 1843, William Matheson founded the Glenmorangie Distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Inspired by the Distillery’s peaceful surroundings on the banks of the Dornoch Firth, he brought forth a pioneering single malt whisky wonderfully complex and exceptionally smooth. Ever since, we have pursued our craft with uncompromising dedication – endlessly creative in our quest for perfection. To this day, we honour the Distillery’s provenance in our award-winning single malt. Its pure, smooth spirit is distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills, matured in the finest casks and perfected by The Men of Tain. And, in the hands of these select craftsmen, the guardians of our spirit, Glenmorangie will surely delight malt whisky lovers for generations to come.
