95+"Full golden colour. Lots of struck match, bacon, and spicy oak, wheat germ, aniseed, tangerine and peel. Brassy golden fruit – sort of red apple, peach and mixed citrus. And SO intense, it’s almost painful to drink (at least as at now). Acidity is very firm running hard through a gently viscous glossiness. Flinty texture and chalky grip is on offer too. Long spicy finish of browned butter and toasted lime. It does not lack complexity, and it does not lack power, though there’s arguably too much of everything to make it pleasant drinking now. A few more years in bottle should see it purring. A whole heap of struck match, dropped into melting butter. It’s slippery and powerful, lime and fresh cut pineapple acidity, oatmeal, ginger and cinnamon, peppermint and white chocolate, pear skin and chalk, feels very wet and very dry at once, citrus zest and oak spice, pancakes with peaches, grip and crunch and smoke on a very long finish. Almost painful in its intensity and volume, so much so, the neighbours can probably hear me drinking it. Yet, still, undeniable quality in the glass here. En garde."

Victoria
The wine region of Victoria has the highest number of grapevines than any other state in Australia. It is home to over 600 wineries and well-known regions such as Yarra Valley, Heathcote, and Rutherglen. Victoria is situated in the southeastern corner of Australia where due to the location, the climate has a cool maritime influence and is known for its outstanding Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, along with producing Australia’s most famed dessert Muscat and Topaque wines.
There are a number of different terroir levels throughout the wine region of Victoria which leads to the production of different ranges of wines. In the southern region of Victoria, the vines are regulated by the cool winds of the Bass Strait. Central Victoria consists of mostly flat terrain that tends to be drier and warmer than the rest of Victoria, which results in more fruit concentrated wines. It may be surprising to note that Victoria is the third most productive wine region in Australia, seeing as it does not have as many areas suitable for viticulture, which has resulted in the cellar door culture of Victoria being concentrated with smaller, but more personal boutique wineries.

About the brand Giaconda
The Giaconda Vineyard and Winery was established by Rick Kinzbrunner just outside of Beechworth, Victoria. Originally a mechanical engineer with an 'interest' in wine, Kinzbrunner studied at the University of California at Davis before working at a handful of local wineries including Stag's Leap, Simi and Matanzas Creek as well as the famed Chateau Petrus, on Bordeaux's Right Bank. In 1982 after returning to Australia, Kinzbrunner purchased land and planted the classic varieties of Chardonnay, Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot and Pinot Noir. Situated in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, warm days and cool nights provide ideal ripening conditions for the grapes while the moderately fertile soil provides just enough support to allow the varietal character to shine through. The first wines produced under the Giaconda label were released in 1987.Considered one of AustraliaÕs best winemakers, Kinzbrunner was awarded the Australian Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller Wine in 2003 as well as one of Decanter MagazineÕs top ten white winemakers in the world in 2006.
