Foradori Fontanasanta
Foradori is tucked into the Dolomites mountain range, to the north of Lake Garda, and Elisabetta Foradori has been working painstakingly in the vineyards here since the mid-Eighties. Originally established in 1901 and under the Foradori family name since 1939 current Winemaker Elisabetta is known for her painstaking attention to detail and quality, as well as for the red wines she makes from the Teroldego grape.
However, he also has a loyal following for the wines, like this one, that she makes in amphorae. The grape here is white, called Nosiola, and it is rare, found only in Trentino, though it is thought to be the offspring of Raetica, in Roman times the most widely planted grape across northern Italy. They harvest the grapes from vineyards covering 28 hectares - 75% of Teroldego, 15% of Manzoni Bianco, 5% of Nosiola and 5% of Pinot Grigio - to produce an average of 160,000 bottles per year: 90,000 of Foradori, 20,000 of Granato, 20,000 of Fontanasanta Manzoni Bianco, 8,000 of Fontanasanta Nosiola, 8,000 of Fuoripista Pinot Grigio and 10,000 for each of vineyards of Sgarzon and Morei.
