The Gladstones Cabernet Sauvignon name comes from Dr. John Gladstone whose vinicultural research enabled plantings throughout Western Australia.

Previous vintage 2020 was the WINNER; Gold Medal, Adelaide Wine Show 2020 Redcurrant and strawberry leap from the glass, but there is a mineral drive to the palate that is delicious. Hint of strawberry sweetness on the front of the palate but a crisp slatey finish.

85% cabernet sauvignon, 9% merlot, 9% ?other' varieties, matured for 18 months in French oak. Good colour; a powerful, concentrated and complex wine proudly flying its colours from the main mast, and staring down anyone seeking to question its authority, but even here is a deftness of touch with the balance between the black fruits, the firm tannins and the cedary oak.

After eight years in cellar, please jump right in. Seductive aromas leading to classic Coonawarra Cabernet flavours: dark berries, choc-mint, cedar and spice, with soft succulent tannins supporting this intense treat. 95 points from Wine Orbit; Gold medals at wine shows in London, Spain and China.

Chalice Bridge has established its 122 hectares of vines in an area known as Rosa Glen, which is approximately 16kms south-east of the Margaret River township. The palate is firmly structured - this is possibly the most tight knit of the Cullen Cabernets that we've seen. The fine dry tannins are dominant and run right through the wine into the aftertaste. The blackcurrant and cassis flavours take a back seat for the time being - this is a wine that needs years to evolve.
