Grower Champagne. If you know, you know. It’s not about consistency year in, year out, blending multiple vintages and fruit from various vineyards across several subregions to achieve that ‘house style’ as the large Champagne houses do. Instead, it’s about terroir – a unique expression of site – and the defining features of a particular vintage. It’s no surprise then that Grower Champagne, where the people who grow the grapes also make the wine, is often referred to as ‘Artisan Champagne’.

On the 30th of October, United Cellars are delighted to announce the one and only dinner in Australia with Jancis Robinson MW, one of the most esteemed wine critics in the world. Mrs Robinson will be in Australia launching her new range of glassware, and to celebrate, we'll be hosting a dinner at Bentley Restaurant, where we'll match some of Australia's best wines to award-winning food. Jancis Robinson OBE, ComMA, MW is a British wine critic, journalist and wine writer. She currently writes a weekly column for the Financial Times, and writes for her website JancisRobinson.com, updated daily. She also provides advice for the wine cellar of Queen Elizabeth II. In 1984, she became the first person outside the wine trade, as well as the first female to become a Master of Wine. As a wine writer, she has become one of the world's leading writers of educational and encyclopedic material on wine and was described by Decanter magazine as 'the most respected wine critic and journalist in the world'. The Oxford Companion to Wine, edited by Robinson, is widely considered to be the most comprehensive wine encyclopedia in the world. The first edition was published in 1994, and took five years to write after she was signed on as editor in 1988. Bentley is a Two Hat restaurant the offers a very special dining experience in an industrial-chic space in Sydney’s CBD. It is widely regarded as the best place in Australia to drink wine. Meet me in... Central Otago. During one marvellous day, we'll take you on a tour of a handful of carefully chosen wineries that we have built a close relationship with over the years. During our visits, you'll be given access to people, places & of course wines not available to the general public. At each stop, there will be plenty of wines to help tell the stories of these producers. Lunch will also be provided for all guests. On this trip, we're visiting one of the most popular young wine regions in the New World; Central Otago. Despite its youth, Otago has become one of the hotbeds for high-quality Pinot Noir production, as well as leading the charge in regards to Sustainable, Organic & Biodynamic wines. Meet us in Queenstown, & we'll get you up to the wineries, as well as put on a lunch for you (with plenty of wines to accompany of course!), & then get you back to Queenstown in the afternoon. Your host will be our Head Buyer & Master of Wine student, Mark Faber. He will use all his connections, as well as call in a few favours to get you behind the scenes of some of the most recognised & high-quality wineries in the region! Meet me in... The Barossa Valley The concept behind our 'Meet me in..." series is simple; you meet us at a designated place, and we'll take you on a trip through a wine region you won't soon forget! During one marvellous day, we'll take you on a tour of a handful of carefully chosen wineries that we have built a close relationship with over the years. During our visits, you'll be given access to people, places and of course wines not available to the general public. You'll be told about the history of some of Australia's oldest and most revered wineries, as well some up-and-coming producers that you may not yet know. At each stop there will be plenty of wines to help tell the stories of these producers. Lunch will also be provided for all guests. On this trip we're visiting the famed Barossa Valley. This is one of Australia's oldest wine regions, and is home to some of the oldest vines on this earth. Meet us in Adelaide, and we'll get you up to the wineries, as well as put on a lunch for you (with plenty of wines to accompany of course!), and then get you back to Adelaide in the afternoon.
