First things first, our guest on Wednesday the 22nd of April is not actually the winemaker, but instead the importer of the wonderful wines of Boutique Grower Champagne Egly-Ouriet. Robert Walters was one of the first to explore the Grower Champagne movement, & Egly-Ouriet was there with him from the embryonic start. Nobody in Australia knows these wines better, & it will be a pleasure to taste his wines & pick his brain about this cult producer. "Needless to say that Egly-Ouriet’s Blanc de Noirs remain outstanding in their freshness, finesse & complexity. The growing domaine farms 12 hectares, largely in Ambonnay, but also in Verzenay, Vrigny & Bouzy. All the wines are fermented with natural yeasts in barrels. The malolactic fermentation is blocked to maintain the freshness, which is one of the characteristic features in the terroir-driven Egly-Ouriet portfolio. All of the wines are bottled unfiltered (“since 20 years”) & disgorged after four to six years as Brut or as Extra Brut. (Note that this is only a question of declaration rather than analysis, since also the bruts are dosed with only two or three grams per liter.)" STEPHAN REINHARDT vinous.com At this event we will dig deep into the past, present & future of this cult producer to see how these highly applauded & sought after wines are produced. Seats are limited to only 15, as Robert has requested a small, intimate event for this wine tasting, so get in quick to secure your seats.

We know you love wine as much as we do and that enjoyment is increased when you can hear the stories behind how and why each wine came to be created. So join us for the first Tuesday of the month for Tuesday Tutorials. You could be learning about a plethora of wine, food or even science-related subjects with a Master of Wine student, a Sommelier, Winemaker or Viticulturalist. The evening is all about enjoying great wine in the company of like-minded aficionados and friends. Not only will these nights give you- our wine-lovers a relaxed and informal setting to explore some amazing wines, but we’ll also provide plenty of fodder for your arsenal of wine knowledge! Each event will feature carefully selected wines, hand-picked from our cellar for us to discuss. Each months selection will be different, expect the unexpected - one night it could be all about Nebbiolo, the next we are hosting a legendary winemaker or learning about how tannin and acid affect different parts of the palate. This month, we will take you on a journey to discover the wonderful world of Sensory Evaluation- when we say a wine smells like raspberries and cloves - how and why does that occur? Our favourite Sommelier, Samantha Payne will construct a whole sensory table of delights for you to smell whilst trying your wines. Come and join us for a drink!
