A vintage that perfectly marries the sheer concentration of 1990 with the finesse and purity of 1994. 24 years on United Cellars have secured an exceptional collection 1998 vintage wines. It's not every day you see a winery hit its quarter-century, but on Wednesday the 17th of June, you'll get to celebrate this special occasion with one of our favourite wineries, Bannockburn Vineyards. 25 kilometres northwest of Geelong along the Midland Highway, the Bannockburn Vineyards estate is located in the Moorabool Valley sub-region, just outside the township of Bannockburn. Since 1995, this estate has been creating exceptional wines built for ageing. At this special tasting, we will taste back through time, and celebrate 25 years of this Estate with wines from several different older vintages, as well as some younger ones. Matt Holmes commenced making the wines at Bannockburn Vineyards in 2015. He sees his role as a servant to the vineyard, growing season and fruit to produce wines representative of style and site. Above all, gentle inputs and minimal additions are his goal. In his words, “Well-nourished vines grown in a suitable spot, picked on the right day, transcribed as wine.” Previously, Matt had been making wine in the Okanagan wine region of British Columbia, Canada. During these 10 years he also gained a broad range of experience working additional vintages in the U.S., France, Italy, New Zealand as well as Australia.

The letters DRC hold little meaning for most people, but for Burgundy fanatics, these three letters represent something well beyond the everyday; something significantly rare, significantly exclusive, almost unattainable. The reputation of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti goes well before it, the estate being widely considered among the world’s greatest producers. With allocations extremely limited and prices above $20,000, the opportunity to try one of the estate’s wines is the opportunity of a lifetime. For one special afternoon only, we’re offering you that very opportunity.

You are invited to join us at this premium Burgundy showcase on Friday 4th November 2022 in the United Cellars Tasting Room. Wines on pour will include those legendary producers Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and Maison Leroy/Domaine Leroy, along with other top estates. Wines will be paired with a specially-curated 5-course menu designed by Chef Tim Freitas.

Wines on pour include the following, and additional wines on the day:

Tuesday 2nd May, experience a rare and delectable evening with renowned Robert Weil wines, the superstar of Rheingau. Savor the first release of the highly sought-after 2021 Vintage Rheingau Rieslings - all before anyone else in Australia!

The Rheingau, renowned for its historic vineyards, has a series of south-facing, rocky slopes that maximize sun exposure and protect the vines from northern winds, allowing Riesling to ripen perfectly in the northern climate. Robert Weil, located in the town of Kiedrich, is fueled by three high-altitude, south-facing vineyards in Klosterberg, Turmberg, and Gräfenberg. Wilhelm Weil, a pioneer of "earth to glass" wine growing, produces some of the world's most inspiring examples of Riesling by guiding Rheingau Riesling to its most seamless, precise expression.
Stephan Reinhardt, The Finest Wines of Germany, has described Robert Weil as "an icon of German wine culture, producing nothing but the finest Rieslings distinguished by their origins and style."

Join us for a small and intimate dinner meticulously crafted by The Wine Library to perfectly match the nuances of Rheingau Riesling.
