Voted #1 Riesling by Huon Hooke Pride of the Erin is Steve Wiblin's top Riesling, and in 2019, a challenging and intensely low-yielding vintage, he has ransacked every iota of available flavour he could possibly muster. Sourced from Sevenhill, this behemoth is a wine that will probably outlive us all. Wet stone, talc, white flowers and a promise of intense citrus flavours on the nose, the palate features a sheer drive of line, length and latent power that its easy to forget that this is from the Clare Valley. High natural acidity and hints of nectarine and granny smith finish off the payday.

Pale slaty colour with a similarly tight, tense, reserved aroma - crisp and tight and very much a young, nervy, baby riesling. Fresh lemon juice as well. Delicious aroma and flavours, good intensity and palate-weight, concentration and drive. A very impressive young riesling of perfume and power. Lovely now and has a big future. A great Australian riesling: it combines concentration and seamless texture with superb fragrance and charm.

Riesling from “the Penwortham micro-climate” of the Clare Valley. It’s usually good and it is again. Intensity of flavour, length through the palate, a chalkiness to the texture. Clare Valley riesling nailed high on the mast. There may well be a smidgen of fruit sweetness here but however it does it it works a treat.
