Awarded a Gold medal from the Australian Wine Showcase, and also given a 93 point score from Huon Hooke. Emerald Isle is Steve Wiblin's second label Riesling. Sourced from Sevenhill, this is a wine that will probably outlive us all. Wet stone, talc, white flowers and a promise of intense citrus flavours on the nose, the palate features a sheer drive of line, length and latent power that its easy to forget that this is from the Clare Valley. High natural acidity and hints of nectarine and granny smith finish off the payday.

    "Very light straw-yellow hue with a lifted, slightly heady aroma with a hint of acetone. There's good intensity of fruit flavour as well as a tickle of sweetness in the palate. Intense, piercing and long on the tongue. A zesty, lively wine with energy and brightness. It should age very well."

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the country's vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.

Clare Valley

Situated in the Mid North of South Australia, approximately 120 km north of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest wine regions the Clare Valley. The area is broken up into three sub-regions, the Polish Hill River region to the east, the Central Clare Valley, and the Skillogalee Valley to the west.

Often associated with some of Australia's finest Riesling the cool climate and differing terroirs have paved the way for exciting and diverse wines over a plethora of varietals resulting in wines of pure expression and great length. Home to some of Australia's most iconic wineries - cult producers like Wendouree, to Australian icons such as Kilikanoon and boutique producers like Atlas, the Clare Valley is definitely an area to keep an eye on for exciting and ever-evolving wines.

About the brand Steve Wiblin’s Erin Eyes Wines

Erin Eyes is the new venture of Steve Wiblin (formerly of Neagles Rock Vineyards). Erin Eyes is located in Auburn, in the Clare Valley wine region of South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges area. Unsurprisingly Erin Eyes produces some stellar wines, particularly from Riesling and Cabernet to which the Clare Valley is so superbly suited. Owner Steve Wiblin has had a long career in the wine industry, working first for Wynns and Seaview, and Orlando before co-founding Neagle’s Rock. After selling his share in Neagles he has concentrated on making tiny batches under the Erin Eyes label.
