Dominique Piron
Dominique Piron, established 1590 has well over four centuries of history in Beaujolais. It started in Morgon back in 1590 with the oldest known ancestor producing wine, a tradition continued for 14 generations.
The Domaine practices sustainable winegrowing on lands filled with broken down granite and schist which lend unique characters to the wines. Some of the vineyards are grown on very steep slopes up to 30%, a difficult terrain to say the least! Though based in Morgon, the Domaine makes wines from eight other appellations throughout Beaujolais, each vineyard selected for their granite soil composition. They include Brouilly, Regnié, Fleurie, Chénas, Moulin à Vent, Saint Amour and of course Morgon.
Piron is one of the top producers in Beaujolais. Their structured, long-lived wines are well worth seeking out.
