Domaine Michelas st Jemms are the oldest individual winery in Crozes Hermitage established in 1961. They were the first family to leave the Cave de Tain cooperative, becoming the first independent in the region, and setting the stage for many others to follow. The estate is composed of 50 hectares of vineyards divided into plots across four of the most prestigious appellations of the northern Rhône valley. La Chasselière is produced from old vines of 30 years old, planted on deep chalky-clay soil with some small round pebbles brought by the Rhône. Deep garnet color of this Crozes-Hermitage offer some nice purple tints. The rich bouquet of aromas explode in the nose. Long length, this well-balanced wine offer black fruit to black cherry notes and finished by silky tannins. Served it at 18°.

Beautiful aromas and flavours from this Syrah of cassis, blackcurrants, blackberries with spicy impressions of pepper, liquorice, and herbs.

Still very tightly wound at the moment aromatically, a granitic style crunchy nose and wild animal gamey notes. Lovely silkiness on the palate and a real intensity on the finish. This has fantastic concentration – a beautiful wine – elegant, structured and long. Very good indeed.

Deep, dark, dense colour with a rich, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate and nutmeg bouquet, with high-notes of leather and pepper. The palate is big and brawny, rugged and slightly aggro with lots of grip and grunt - but no special elegance. It’s chewy and slightly bitter in its tannins, extracted and concentrated. Good potential. It just needs more time.
