There is no reason whatsoever to disparage this wine just because it's cabernet from Tasmania. Indeed, the reason it's so good is its varietal makeup (including 4% each of cabernet franc/merlot and 2% petit verdot) and the time it's been given in bottle. The tannins have been vanquished, and the blackcurrant/bramble flavours are in fine fettle, with a touch of cedary oak the final touch. Length and balance are its trademarks.

    "90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot. Bright shaded ruby. Clean, balsam, complex and oh so fresh. I would so love to serve this blind in Bordeaux! It really is gorgeous. The freshness on the finish distinguishes it. So satisfying! Really rather beautiful. Long and so subtle."

Western Australia

The wine regions of Western Australia are located in the southwest corner of the state. Margaret River is renowned for its production of Cabernet Sauvignon, which is often blended with Merlot to create Bordeaux-style wines.
