It was ranked as a Premier Grand Cru in the classification of 1855 and is the Sauternes is made with a blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle. The vineyard was purchased by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, the owners of Château Lafite Rothschild in 1984, the latest in a long list of illustrious owners that have included the Gasqueton family who are also owners
