Founded in 1570 by the Picoron family, Château Picoron has a long history of wine. Now days, Château Picoron is operated by an Australian family. What we produce is as much a celebration of the history of our winery, as it is the future. Our winery is a coming together of France & Australia, new & old, past & future. We produce limited production wines which celebrate our past, and inspire the next generation of wine drinkers. We produce only 2000 cases of wine per year, for our friends & family. Our winemaker, Stephane Apelbaum, believes nature to be our greatest collaborator, preferring a minimal intervention to vineyard management and winemaking. Our wine is produced sustainable, and we are on a journey toward organic farming conversion. Only 1000 cases produced! This is a 100% Merlot produced from the rolling clay and limestone hills of Chateau Picoron, aged with a hint of French Oak and now ready to drink.

Gorgeous notes of cassis, boysenberry and hints of forest floor greenery leap out of the glass in this classy Bordeaux. The Petit Picoron is taking on modern Bordeaux elements (similar to Chateau Latour) for approachability in its youth. It’s got luscious red and blue fruits perfectly suited for the modern Australian palate whilst retaining some that bramble, leafyness and anise thus retaining the essence of Bordeaux complimented by woody, supple tannin.

Fresh and clean with minerals, blackberries and hints of walnuts. Medium body and firm tannins.
