The Château Palmer is a 3rd Grand Cru classé in Margaux, in the Médoc. The Château Palmer itself was built in 1856 by brothers Emile and Isaac Péreire, great industrialists of the time since they invested as much in banks as in railroads. They bought Château Palmer in 1853, the jewel of their fortune and owned it until 1938. The current owners are the Sichel, Mähler-Besse and Bouteiller families, who all work hand in hand to bring the Château's wines to new heights of delicacy and elegance, while taking a totally responsible approach and respecting the natural beauty that surrounds it. Château Palmer extends over 55 hectares, on an exceptional and complex terroir just a few hundred metres from the Gironde estuary. The result is a very velvety wine, floral aromas with a savoury edge filled with violet, black berry and leather. Smooth attack then generous fruit across the palate filled with seductive blackberries, and blackcurrants with a touch of oak, the texture is silky and fine.

Chocolate shavings and smoked coffee bean on the nose, it's a vintage where you can't get away from the tannins, but here they have sinew and juice, like the best translation of the tannins in the year. This has real purity of fruit (very low SO2 addition at Palmer), together with the gourmet touch that you want in Alter Ego. 45% of overall production. 3.73pH. Survived mildew better than in 2018 because of experience in dealing with the conditions. August 15 to 29 for the harvest. A yield of 31hl/ha.
