This wine is all about balancing elegance, finesse of the aromas and power. A beautiful expression of 2021 in that it is a fresher example but does not compromise on ripeness, structure and power. 60% old vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, the wine is very much on the dark fruits, also displaying notes of dried tobacco, dark chocolate and liquorice. The tannins are abundant but not overpowering, rather chewy and pleasant. The palate shows plenty of dark fruits and herbaceousness, and will develop greatly in harmony and complexity with a few years in the bottle.

Black chocolate, perfume and black cherries on the nose with soft perfumed touches too. Gentle and quietly confident, this is smooth with an underlying life force that slowly builds as the fruit, acidity and tannins go from the front to the back of the palate. It gradually gains in texture and flavour with the liquorice and slate adding to the blackcurrant and cherry flavours finishing with mint at the end. I like this as it doesn't feel at all forced, just naturally showing the coolness of the vintage and the slow ripening of the fruit and tannins. All in harmony and easy to enjoy. Sappy, agile, chewy and persistent in the best way. I like this, and a great-value pick.

Vibrant forest fruit, blueberry compote and fleshy plummy nose. A succulent mid palate with good intensity of fruit and a layered mid palate – excellent extraction has given fine sculpted tannins and a fresh floral finish. Good value and well worth a case at this price.
