Chateau Larrivaux
Larrivaux is located in the Cissac Médoc commune, in the region of Haut Medoc, near the prestigious Saint Estephe appellation.
The vineyard which spans 19 hectares consists of 3 islands that surround the property. Two, are on gravelly earths with deep clays and the third is on a clay limestone soil.
The characteristics of this terroir make it possible to conserve water during rainy periods and to restore moisture to the roots during dry periods. This greatly limits the phenomenon of water stress to the vines.
The current breakdown of the property is divided into 59% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Small verdot. Planted mostly in Merlot which is rather atypical for the Médoc region, it is the terroir that is most suited to the merlot grape. These wines come from the blending of these different grape varieties as each contributes to the composition of the perfect balance.
The percentage of each varietal varies according to the vintage, depending on the climate it may favour one varietal over the other.
