100% Grand Cru fruit from the villages of Chouilly and Ay. The ultimate expression of the finest this family can produce, this is a hand-selection of the very finest cuvees from the vintage. Only produced in the most exceptional years, of which 2012 was most definitely one. 'Cuvee 1670' is unique in the Autreau range in that it is Pinot Noir dominant, showing pretty red berry notes, alongside complex earthy, savoury aromas. A small percent of Chardonnay balances the wine to perfection, adding a citrus backbone and sherbet finish. Matured on lees for 5 years before release which adds layers of complex brioche and toast flavours as well as a persistent, fine bead of bubbles. Every bottle is hand-labelled and gift boxed to reflect the care the Autreau family have taken in making this wine The family Autreau is an old family from Champillon - ancient documents certify their presence since 1670, which gives this wine its name. This family is linked to the farming of the land and to the Champagne production as far back as it goes - the beginning of the 18th century when Dom Perignon found bubbles in his wine.
