Inspired by the land of freedom and the state that inspired the “Summer of Love“ California Dreamin’ is all about flavour! Expressive and opulent wines full of mouth-filling flavour, maximum complexity and rewarding drinkability. Sourced from two established vineyards on the Hunter Valley floor within the Lovedale sub region of the Hunter Valley – chosen for maximum intensity of fruit flavour. Grown and specifically made for maximum depth and mouth coating richness California Dreamin’ is a truly big and buttery Chardonnay from Australia’s leading region for the style. Fermented oxidatively without sulphur addition using a specially selected yeast and given a long and slow malolactic fermentation before oak maturation in alternate oak and small format French. The result is a diacetyl (butter compound) count 2-3 times the average Chardonnay. Pale straw in colour and progressively deepening in colour. Rich and ripe nose with clear buttery overtones floating above aromas of peach and ripe melon. The palate is likewise rich and thick with white stone-fruit and citrus flavours, a mouth coating texture and subtle but noticeable oak character. Still in its youth this wine will gain weight, length and complexity over the next few years.

Upfront and flavoursome, it's beautifully lifted on the nose showing ripe peach, rockmelon, vanilla and roasted cashew characters with a hint of butterscotch. The palate delivers excellent fruit intensity together with rounded mouthfeel and refreshing acidity, leading to a smooth comforting finish. At its best: now to 2022.
