A savoury nose of bay leaf, leather, redcurrant and boysenberry, dried herbs and baking spices. Such purity to the fruit (good viticulture and class winemaking). Tannin profile is superb, and feels open-weave, and freshness kept in check with such wonderfully integrated, fine acidity. Refreshing wine. This wine will improve with a number of years in the cellar.

It’s a hard act to get a straight Cab Franc going, but when it’s good, it’s often very good. Red and blackcurrant, slight prune note, mint, pencils and spice. Medium-bodied, grip and grainy tannin, slightly nippy acidity, attractive perfume of dried herbs on a long insistently tannic finish. Needs a couple of years to settle, I feel, but potential here.
