Arnot Roberts
Located in Sonoma County in California, Arnot-Roberts is the brainchild of winemakers Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts. Since making their inaugural single barrel of wine in 2001, Arnot-Roberts have gone from strength to strength over the years, focussing on high-quality vineyards that primarily grow Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Syrah, and Trousseau. While they don’t own parcels of land, the pair work closely with vineyard owners and viticultural consultants to harness the potential of the vines they work with, and are diligent in deciding the right time to pick – often picking earlier than others in the Sonoma County, to capitalise on acidity and freshness while still achieving fruit ripeness. While each wine is handled to fit the vineyard character and vintage variations, Arnot-Roberts stay true to a general set of principles in their winemaking: indigenous fermentation, little to no new oak, whole-bunch inclusion in their red wines, and often bottling without fining or filtering.
